Ask me anything
quarry bay monday. today, g&i went on a mini adventure from sai kung to quarry bay in search of good eats. after doing some research on going on premonitions, we decided to visit three places: mr. taco truck, king shing dumplings, and xen coffee. mr. taco truck, unfortunately, is open at really random times, and by that, i mean they are only opened when i am at work! so it’s a special occasion when i get to have “the best” cali-mexican food in HK. i personally love their horchata. thankfully, g&i had a back up in case mr. taco fell through. we crossed the street and went halfway down hoi kwong street in search of king shing dumplings. we ordered 4 types of dumplings, 1 veg dish, and 1 appetizer. G was very enthusiastic about the whole meal. total came out to $121. nice! then we walked down king’s road toward manly plaza, basement, shop k12 (?) to try out siphon coffee. the very nice owner(?) recommended a high mountain Mandheling ($38) for G and he made a strong cup of sumiyaki ($30) for me (because they do not serve lattes there). then we wandered down to tai koo shing station for the jusco, but the crowd inside made it nearly impossible to shop, never mind paying for our miso soup ingredients. feeling overwhelmed, we left jusco empty handed, watched a policeman harass a roast sweet potato seller, then walked back to the quarry bay station. the photo was taken along the walk between QB and TKS — old school buildings of HK. beautiful yet sad, at the same time.
